Forum on Chinese Marriage, Family Law Practices Opens in Bei

The 5th Chinese Marriage and Family Law Practice Forum opened in Beijing on April 21.

The event was hosted by the Marriage Law Institute of the China Law Society and the Law School of Renmin University of China, and attracted over 300 participants including scholars, judges, notaries, lawyers and government officials.

Some 255 papers were delivered to organizers, of which the most outstanding texts will later be published by the Marriage Law Institute.

The four themes of the forum were “The identification of common property of husbands and wives”, “The scope and order of legal heirs”, “Family dispute settlement regarding foreigners, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan-related affairs”, and “Family-issue trial reform and litigation procedural legislation”.

Guests fully discussed issues concerning at the forum, which embodied the distinctive features of the cross-boundary communication between legal professional communities, according to organizers.

The forum has also played a significant role in the practical and theoretical research on marriage laws.
